Fe-Ni-Al series alloy
Typical components of Fe-Ni-Al alloys are: Fe-25.5Ni-13Al-3Cu, Fe-21Ni-10Al-12Co-6Cu. Because the alloy contains a small amount of cobalt or no cobalt, magnetic field heat treatment is ineffective, and the magnet is magnetically isotropic and has lower performance.

Fe-Ni-Al-Co alloy
The typical components of the Fe-Ni-Al-Co alloy system are Fe-14Ni-8A1-24Co-3Cu (commonly known as Alnico5) and Fe-15Ni-7Al-34Co-5Ti-3Cu (commonly known as Alnico8). Their cobalt content is high, the magnetic field treatment effect is obvious, the magnet is magnetically anisotropic, and the performance is high. For example, the performance of columnar crystal magnets made by directional solidification will be greatly improved.

Alnico magnet applications
Alnico alloys are brittle and hard, and are mainly produced by casting. In addition, alnico permanent magnets can also be made into sintered magnets corresponding to cast magnets by powder metallurgy, but their performance is slightly lower. Alnico magnets have good temperature stability and aging stability, and are suitable for making instruments, motors, electroacoustic devices, magnetic machinery, etc.

Alnico magnet material
Alnico permanent magnets are mainly made of permanent magnet materials containing aluminum, nickel and cobalt elements in addition to iron. From the 1930s to the 1960s, it occupied an important position in the application of permanent magnet materials. However, permanent magnet ferrites have developed rapidly since the 1970s. At the same time, the magnetic properties of rare earth cobalt permanent magnet materials have exceeded those of AlNiCo materials, and the performance of processable plastic iron-chromium-cobalt permanent magnets can be compared with it, so its usage has declined. However, its demagnetization caused by temperature changes is smaller than other materials, so it is still commonly used in instruments.
